The Door - Teddy Swims

At first, I thought this song was by CeeLo Green, but it turned out to be someone else. It's my favorite song on Spotify right now, and I just listen to it on repeat over and over. 🎧 It just hits different, doesn't it?

In this life, have you ever felt stuck in a rut? 😣 Like you're constantly bumping against the same walls, going nowhere? Bak kata pepatah; kiri duri kanan pun berduri arah mana kemana hendak hamba melangkah? #lagu 🚧 Don't know, maybe you're in a relationship that's draining you, leaving you feeling empty and lost? 💔

Teddy Swims' song "The Door" perfectly captures that feeling. It's a raw, honest ode to self-love and the importance of breaking free from what's holding you back ain't it?

Song by Teddy Swims

I took a page out of your favorite book
You sold me lies just by the way you look
Taught me a language that I never speak
Baby, that ain't for me
That, that ain't for me

I dug my grave watching the way you move
You took me higher than I ever flew
Too many times, gave you a second chance
Baby, I'm just a man
I'm, I'm just a man

No more thinking about you late night
No more running around with your friends now
Done picking up pieces of my soul up off the floor

I said I would die for you, baby
But I can't take this pain no more
I thought I was willing
But tonight I save my life when I showed you the door
I don't want to lose you, baby
But I can't play this game no more
I thought it would kill me
But tonight I saved my life when I showed you the door

You never thought this day would ever come
But I looked you in the eyes and pulled the rug
You tried to take away my sanity
Baby, that ain't for me
That, that ain't for me

Oh, no more thinking about you late night
No more running around with your friends now
Done picking up pieces of my soul from up the floor

I said I would die for you, baby
But I can't take this pain no more
I thought I was willing
But tonight I saved my life when I showed you the door
I don't want to lose you, baby
But I can't play this game no more
I thought it would kill me
But tonight I saved my life when I showed you the door

When I showed you the door
When I showed you the door
But tonight I saved my life

I said I would die for you, baby
But I can't take this pain no more
I thought I was willing
But tonight I saved my life when I showed you the door
I don't want to lose you, baby (I don't want to lose you, baby)
But I can't take this game no more
I thought it'd kill me (I thought it'd kill me)
But tonight I saved my life when I showed you the door

Hmm-mm

Whoa-oh

Swims sings 🎶 about a toxic relationship that's slowly chipping away at his soul. He feels trapped, like he's lost himself in the chaos. 😵‍💫 But then, something shifts. He realizes he deserves better. He deserves to love himself, to prioritize his own happiness.

And that's where the magic happens. ✨

Swims decides to walk away. He closes the door on that negative energy 🔋 and opens a new chapter – one filled with self-discovery and joy.

Think about it. We often put others before ourselves. We prioritize the needs of our partners, our families, our friends, and forget about our own well-being. This can lead to resentment and burnout. 😭 We end up feeling drained, unhappy, and lost.

But it doesn't have to be this way.

So somehow this song; "The Door" is a powerful reminder that you have the power to choose happiness. You have the power to break free from anything that's holding you back.

Here are a few things to ponder:
  • What doors 🚪 do you need to close in your own life?
  • What's stopping you from prioritizing your own happiness? 🚫
  • What does self-love look like for you?
This is more than just a song; it's a call to action. It's a reminder to listen to your heart, to trust your instincts 🧠 (or gut, whatever), and to never settle for less than you deserve.

So, go ahead, unlock your inner glow. Open that door and step into a brighter future.
