Kids' Health Camp at KGSC: A Fun-Filled Family Day Out in Iskandar Puteri 👩🏻‍👦🏻‍👦🏻

We went to the KGSC (Kensington Green Specialist Centre) Kids Health Camp last Saturday. It was definitely worth it. Kudos to the KGSC team. 👏🏻

As someone who works in the healthcare industry, I was eager to experience the Kensington Green Specialist Centre (KGSC) firsthand. I'd never been to Iskandar Puteri before, except for the occasional trip to Legoland or government offices (or other hospital nearby 🏥), so this Kids' Health Camp was the perfect opportunity to explore the area and introduce my kids to a new environment.

Let me tell you, the Kensington Green Kids' Health Camp was a total hit in our house. I'm a mom of 4 minions boys, I was a bit apprehensive about keeping them entertained for a whole morning. But from the moment we walked in and were greeted with a warm welcome and a delicious banana cake 🍌 breakfast I knew we were in for a treat.

While my boys unleashed their inner artists at the coloring contest 🖍️ (which kept them occupied for a good hour, thank goodness!), I snuck off to attend the parent talks. "10 Mental Health Tips for Parents" and "Hidden Hunger & Nutrition Support for Optimal Growth in Children" were incredibly informative. I learned so much that I'll definitely be sharing some key takeaways in another post. Semua nak tulis dekat sini, nanti berjela pulak. 🧾

Children engaging in activities at the Dr. Green Junior and KG Junior Pharmacist stations at the Health Camp.

After the coloring, the real fun began. At the Dr. Green Junior station 💉, my boys got to play doctor. My eldest, practiced CPR, 🩺 groaning dramatically. The KG Junior Pharmacist station was a huge hit. Fateh dan Yusuf, the most meticulous of the bunch, carefully counted vitamin tablets, packed them, and even wrote labels. While Iman and Adam are making syrup by triturating tablets into fine powder and mixing it with syrup; talk about a future pharmacist. Like Ibu, like son eh?

Next up, the Fit Kids by Decathlon session. My boys, bless their energetic souls, bounced off the walls (literally) as they navigated various exercise stations. Jumping jacks, squatting, skipping; they did it all with excitement. Adam and Iman, kept making funny faces 😂 during the exercises, much to the amusement of the other kids.

The Go Green station with Terra Green Living Sdn. Bhd. was a real eye-opener. The VR experience for natural disasters was both fascinating and a little scary 😱. My kids learned about the importance of waste sorting and even got to try their hand at creating their own compost. The recycle bin ♻️ and Clean Beach Challenge was a favorite. They had so much fun picking up virtual trash that they're now begging me to take them on a real beach cleanup pulak. 🏖️

Get ready to be amazed ya Tuan-Puan. Did you know that mealworms 🐛 have super power? Yes, they can munch on your food scraps (including plastic; slowly but surely) and turn them into valuable fertilizer 🌱. I save your time by asking the person in charge; you can get the mealworms dekat kedai memancing 🎣 atau pet shop. Yes, you are welcome.

And let's not forget the other amazing booths! The Little Chef Booth by Hard Rock Cafe was a culinary adventure 🥗. My boys got to create their own custom veggie and fruit salads, which they surprisingly enjoyed. The Iskandar Puteri Health Screening Booth provided valuable insights into my health, obviously.

We didn't win any prizes, but the goodie bags were a nice touch. My boys were thrilled with the vitamins, discount coupons, milk samples, activity books, and merchandise from KG and the sponsors. Oh, and let's not forget the delicious pizza lunch packs 🍕 (and Kopi Ais RM3 from their cafe for my caffein shot, twice ☕️☕️)

Overall, the Kensington Green Kids' Health Camp was an incredible experience. We had a blast, learned valuable lessons about health and the environment 🍃, and I even learned a thing or two myself. It was a truly memorable event that I highly recommend to any parent in the area. And Happy 5th Anniversary Kensington! 🎉

P.S. Fateh still membebel his color pencil dah pendek sangat because of the coloring contest the other day. He said the picture was as big as a drawing paper, so he had to sharpen it many times. And my youngest, Yusuf, keeps asking to "play pharmacist" 💊 again.
