#CeritaMak: Website Performance, 15 December 2024

Kalau dulu, I would only use Blogger Stats to determine my blog's performance 🚀. These days, I use Google Search Console and Google Page Speed Insight not to mention GA4 (Google Analytic), along with Google Adsense and Google Trends reports (Read: Kalau rajin dan banyak masa). Maybe lepas ni boleh start using Ahrefs, Semrush or HubSpot, who knows right?

Google Page Speed Insights

Based on Google Page Speed Insights and my previous blog performance, which measures the website's loading speed and overall performance, my blog scored 90% on desktop, which is pretty good. However, the mobile version only achieved a score of 70%. The breakdown on this is 89% on Accessibility, 96% on Best Practices, and 92% on SEO. So, nampaknya memang kena deep dive all this FCP, LCP-thingy and there will be a lot of optimizing here and there to increase the speed. A faster website means = a better user experience = potentially higher ad revenue = kaya. K bai.

The first half of the year was 🔥! My mobile traffic was off the charts, with a super high click-through rate (CTR). It was like everyone was searching for my content! 📱 Tapi, my desktop and tablet traffic kinda lagged behind. 💻

In the second half, things got interesting as we saw a huge jump in overall traffic, especially on mobile. But, unfortunately, the CTR dipped a bit. Apa tak nya, kejap update, kejap tidak. Draft dah banyak tulis sebenarnya cuma tak sempat nak refine🥲 Busy betul. HAHAHAHA On the bright side, desktop and tablet traffic picked up, which is awesome news tho. 📈

So the takeaway as usual, we need to keep crushing it with mobile optimization and focus on creating high-quality content that people actually want to click on.

Audience Demographic 🌍

Let's dig into some interesting insights about who's visiting #CeritaMak and what kind of content resonates most. First off, it seems like a lot of my audience are from Southeast Asia; Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, and even some folks from down under in Australia. 

Most of my readers are women aged 25-44, but a significant number are also women over 45. This suggests my content appeals to a wide range of women. While men are also part of my audience (17.5%), women clearly dominate. I'll continue to create content that resonates with women, but will also explore topics that might interest men.

The top-performing pages this year were a real mix.  We've got some evergreen content like that 📆 2025 school holiday schedule (you guys are way ahead of the game!), a classic recipe for kimchi jjigae (spicy kimchi stew, yum! 🍲), and even a helpful guide on checking out the dentist at the UTC Pasir Gudang. Looks like you all memang interested in a bit of everything – practical tips, delicious eats, and even a little beauty talk.
