Beyond the Sale: The Solution-Focused Marketer

Just got back from Malacca for a business trip. Met with the big boss-es, yang atas dan atas lagi. It was exhausting but exciting at the same time. I learned a lot, but there were a couple of things that left a bit of a sour taste though; but I'm strong ain't I? 🥲

Anyway lets put that aside, the CEO said something interesting during the meeting: marketing isn't just about selling, it's about providing solutions. Eh? That reminded me of my old LinkedIn post months back. Kita join webinar yang sama ke? 🫢 Sehati sejiwa la kita. HAHAHA.

I actually started writing a blog post about this, but I've been so swamped lately that I haven't had a chance to finish it. I did include what I've learn during my orientation bout shifting the paradigm this and that, tapi nantilah bila free kita cuba tulis, okay?

So, for now, I'll just copy-paste my LinkedIn post here. Let me know what you think:

Who Knew sales and marketing could be so... human? 🧬

I've always been a bit of an introvert. I may seem approachable, but the thought of standing in front of a crowd 🗣, pitching my ideas, or even just making small talk has always filled me with dread (and drained my social battery 🔋; talking bout the frequency and time for me to recharge). So, naturally, I've steered clear of sales and marketing.

But today, I attended a webinar 👩🏻‍🏫 that completely flipped my perspective. Well, it's actually an accounting webinar but the speaker said something about promoting services that really resonated with me: "You're not doing sales or marketing; you're helping people to fulfill what they want or need." 💡

It's such a simple idea, but it's completely changed how I think about the whole thing. Instead of seeing S&M 💼 as a way to sell something, I can see it as a way to connect with people and offer them something valuable.

It's like being a friend who knows just the thing to recommend when someone's feeling down or needs advice 👩🏻‍⚕️💊. Only, instead of giving them a hug or a piece of chocolate 🍫, you're giving them a product or service that can actually solve their problem.

Who knew sales and marketing could be so personal?

P.S. Rasa macam nak ambil MBA la someday, tapi entah bila. I'm not a businessman or entrepreneur, if I make the money on the way, its great then. But I just want to make people life better.
